Laura did her schooling at Wheatley Park School, Oxford. She was inspired to act after she watched Dawson’s Creek behind-the-scenes. Dawson’s Creek is an American teen drama series. Thus then she learned acting for which she enrolled in the Quad C Theatre program at Collin County Community College in Plano, Texas. During her college days, Bailey participated in the production of plays like Suburbia, Through A Glass Onion, and Didn’t Rock The Jukebox. It was during this time that Kent Williams, a voice actor himself, noticed Bailey. He was impressed by her work and thus invited her to audition at Funimation. Funimation is an entertainment company that specializes in dubbing and distributing of East Asian Media especially Japanese anime.

Laura Bailey has been working in the entertainment industry since 1999. She debuted as a voice actor with the Japanese anime television series, Dragon Ball Z. She gave her voice to the character of Kid Trunks, a half-Saiyan, and half-human.
She portrayed the character with a raspy voice. At the time when Kent Williams invited Bailey to audition at Funimation, they were working on the dubbed version of Dragon Ball Z. After this she voiced the character of Marlene Angel in the Japanese television series, Blue Gender: The Warrior.
Blue Gender was Funimation’s first project outside of the Dragon Ball Z series and Keiko Yukimura in the show Yu Yu Hakusho which ran on Cartoon Network. Next Bailey was cast for the starring role of Tohru Honda in the anime series Fruits Basket. In an interview, Bailey reveals that Tohru’s character helped her to be more positive. She says she was inspired by her joy and outlook on life.
According to her, it was such that anyone would want to emulate that. She later voiced one of the villains named Lust in Fullmetal Alchemist and Sana Kurata in Kodocha.
After working for about 4 years with Funimation Bailey also started ADR directing. She worked on The Warrior, Blue Gender, and a few episodes of Case Closed. Her first major directing project was Gunslinger Girl. In this series, she voices the character, Henrietta. She co-directed some parts of Kodocha as well. With the Funimation dub of Shinchan, Bailey became a line producer. She even voiced the title character for the same. Some of her other animations include Winx Club (2011-13), Avengers Assemble (2013-19), Ultimate Spiderman (2014-15), Batman Ultimate (2015), The Powerpuff Girls (2016), and Constantine: City of Demons (2018).
Bailey has also featured in Resident Evil: Degeneration (2008) which is a 3D animated thriller action film. In this film, she played the role of Angela Miller. Well-known voice actors Paul Mercier and Roger Craig were also a part of this film. Other feature films she has given her voice to are Mass Effect: Paragon Lost (2012) and Only Yesterday (2016).
Besides animation, Bailey has taken up voice acting roles in many video games as well.
