Bill Cowher is a former American footballer, coach and sports analyst. He also served as a head coach with the Pittsburg Steelers for 15 seasons in the National Football League (NFL). His real name is William Laird Cowher. He was born on 8 May 1957 in Crafton, Pennsylvania which is a suburb of Pittsburg. He did his schooling from Carlynton High. He excelled in Football. Basketball and track in school. He attended North Carolina State University. He did his bachelors in education and graduated in the year 1979. In college, he was a starting linebacker, team captain and also the team MVP in the senior year. He began his NFL career in 1979 as a linebacker with the Philadelphia Eagles.
Cowher was previously married to Kaye. She was also a graduate of the North Carolina State University. She used to play professional basketball with her twin sister, Faye for the New York Stars of the Women’s Pro Basketball League. Kaye also featured in the book by Karra Porter named Mad Seasons: The Story of The First Women’s Professional Basketball League 1978-1981. Kaye Cowher died of skin cancer in 2010. Bill and Kaye had three daughters namely Meagan, Lauren and Lindsay. All his three daughters used to play basketball in their college. Maegan is married to former NFL forward Kevin Westgarth and Lindsay to former NBA forward Ryan Kelly of the Atlanta Hawks.
